Rack Extensions

RE Logo Propellerhead have recently opened up their popular Reason platform to third party developers. It's a new format called "Rack Extension" that seamlessly integrates effects as well as synthesizers into Reason's rack.

While u-he was the first company to demonstrate a working Rack Extension (at the Frankfurt Musikmesse in 2012), it took us a good while to hone it to perfection. But here we go, REs from u-he hit the Propellerhead Shop!

Uhbik G, granular madness

Uhbik-G Rack Extension Front Panel

Uhbik-G Rack Extension Back Panel

Granular pitch-shifter / phase vocoder (via fast Fourier anaysis) delivers a wide range of dramatic contemporary effects. Whole grain goodness...

Effectively cuts audio material into snippets ('grains'), then plays them back at a variable rate – even backwards.

Uhbik S, bodelicious

Frequency Shifter / Single Sideband Filter with exceptional frequency response and low latency, can create anything from serene barber-pole waves to metallic effects!

Movement in frequency shifters (no LFO required) is constantly downwards or upwards. In Uhbik-S, the barber-pole effect can even rise in one channel while falling in the other.

Our flanger, from through-zero tape flanging (dramatic jet-effect!) to classic stomp-box type chorus, with LFO modulation and feedback / resonance.

This one has CV outputs for the stereo LFO. True Reason Spirit.

Uhbik Q, uhbiquitous equalizer for RE

Uhbik-Q Rack Extension Front Panel

Uhbik-Q Rack Extension Front Panel

The equalizer of our Uhbik family of effects. Different. Simple, yet flexible.

This one uses 4-pole filters instead of the common 2-pole eq designs, which we believe gives it transparency and impact without colouring or too much ringing.

Uhbik A, ambience processor for RE

Uhbik-A Rack Extension Front Panel

The reverb unit Uhbik-A (a member of u-he's popular Uhbik family of effects) offers the very unusual combination of early reflections and various plate algorithms.

While most of the other effects in the Uhbik family are geared towards more synthetic, radical effects, Uhbik-A is the master of understatement. Great reverb is seldom conspicuous, but if itʼs not there, something is missing from the sound.
