Why's this stuff? |
|
|
Well folks, it's quite obvious that someone who creates audio software should also play around with that stuff.
After years of producing backgrounds for tv commercials and video presentations, I found myself encouraged enough to discard intensive pad-mania of my Wavestation and use EVP88, Virus and Samplers instead :-) Feeling influenced by Brian Eno, King Crimson, David Sylvian and Art Of Noise as well as by Kraftwerk, Yello, Jazzanova and B52s, my music doesn't want to follow common dramaturgical principles. I'd say it builds up tensions that never reach any sort of climax. These tunes feel unfinished. They have no destination. Some say they're boring. Maybe this is what it should be like. And then, I have no idea of mixing and mastering. You'll notice that these mp3s are static, overly compressed and have way too much bass, even the un-spiced versions. Worst, they combine the ugly sonic attitudes of the 70ies and 80ies while deploying the coldness of digital gear. They have no feel, are too straight, heavily quantized, unsouled and most times lazily arranged in sandwich and pattern format. - Okay, some of them have really nice grooves... But hey, what gives? Making music is a very exhausting and sometimes painful fun. |

Starts promising but soon becomes very repetitive and boring. However, maybe the best mix here... |

Very fast and funky tune. Bad radio mix. The original mix blew up some subwoofers. As shit happens, the drums soon paralyze any entertainment. Did you notice I always use the same HiHats and Snares? Ugh :-( |

This tune is probably the best here. But it's also the most 80ish. Had been hard work, though. Is a confession to my EPS16+ sampler. I forgot the original name, so I put in the time that elapses until something noticeable happens. |

This tune is merely a joke. Very pattern based. However, you feel my joy doing it :-) |

This one is unfinished. It was made mainly to check out that Orchestra Sample CD that I bought the day before. After some time I realized
I would just copy paste the intro to where I was and stop working on this much too sweet sonic crap. The EPS16 factory Fretless is still one
of my favourites, though...
However, some people like this stuff. |
of course all songs here are (c) by Urs Heckmann. They're here just for you to listen, so don't use them as a whole or fragment for anything else, especially not for copying, distribution or recycling in any way. |
